This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In music club we only have guitars and one set of drums. This makes the music making homogenous. Several students have expressed an interest in learning piano. Because of this request, I am requesting two pianos to further their music learning to focus on student interests.

Two pianos will allow for more students playing at once.

They can even share a piano as they learn to coordinate their hand movements. Two pianos owned by the school will also allow me to give private lessons to further their growth as their interest grows.

Ultimately, the goals of this project are threefold First and foremost, I want to develop a keen interest in music and love for playing music so that they may one day invest and continue to play after they have graduated high school. Secondly, the pianos will allow students interested in playing an incentive to spend more time at school. This allows for community building and pride in their school. Lastly, students will be provided an outlet when they are stressed to relax through music. By having instruments on hand, students will be able to come in before school, lunchtime, or after school and just play to relax. These outlets are key to support the social-emotional aspects of student well-being.
