My Project

Every student deserves to learn in a clean and comfortable environment. My project this year is centered around essentials for helping empower students to take ownership and maintain their space. A clean and organized classroom fosters a more inviting and pleasant atmosphere. When students are learning in a well-maintained space, they're more likely to feel comfortable and focused. Although it may seem simple, taking the time to enhance the environment comes full circle to improve concentration, behavior, and attitude towards learning.

Developing life skills outside of the curriculum and pacing guides is equally as important as learning the grade level standards.

For instance, teaching students the importance of cleanliness and hygiene through regular cleaning routines helps instill good habits that they can carry beyond the classroom. By demonstrating and encouraging proper handwashing, tidiness, and respect for shared spaces, you're promoting lifelong habits that contribute to personal and public health.

I also plan to do an in depth poetry study this year with my 4th and 5th graders. The brick background will be perfect for our culminating poetry slam. The students will transform the classroom into a coffee house and complete the stage with the backdrop. I have also included a set of the book Matilda by Roald Dahl. This addition to my class library will complete the items needed for the Roald Dahl author study. In addition to Matilda, we will also read BFG, Magic Finger, and James and the Giant Peach.
