Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love to teach reading and phonemic awareness. My students enter kindergarten not knowing the difference between a letter and a number. When they leave my class in June, they are emergent readers.

Watching my students develop core reading and phonics skills throughout the school year is magical.

These technology video tools will help me to teach the basic phonemic awareness skills my students will need to become successful readers.

Heggerty helps to teach phoneme segmentation, onset-rime, syllables, long and short vowels and so much more. The Secret Stories helps to teach tricky phonics skills using engaging stories. The stories help students to remember the phonics generalizations/rules. Both of these tools are very beneficial for my students who are English Language Learners.
