Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a classroom filled with little kids eager to learn but do not always have the resources to help them reach their full potential. I teach students with special needs and this means that I must always be flexible with finding different ways of teaching. This could mean I need to use technology, playing equipment, manipulatives, and even things such as different writing utensils (ex. markers, pencils, pens, and even chalk).
The success of my children is my biggest inspiration!
I hope for them to have as many experiences as they can because some may never be able to experience things outside of school.
My Project
Many students struggle with phonemic awareness skills. Phonemic awareness is a vital early literacy skill that aids students distinguish and recognize letters, letter-sound correspondence, spelling, syllables counting, segmenting sounds, rhymes, and many more.
This project will help our K-2 students who struggle with reading, writing, and spelling build their phonemic awareness skills.
We will be targeting phonemic awareness by implementing these fun games during our small group instruction all while students have fun learning. It will keep them motivated to continue working on the skills needed to be great readers. In the end we will celebrate the reading growth of each individual child!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
