Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you love math? I do and I want the same for my students! I teach a wonderful group of students at a Title I school. Over 67% of the students are Hispanic and are learning the English language.

My students love to learn and want to be successful, especially in math.

Due to the language barrier and other socioeconomic factors, my students are not currently working on their grade level. They do not have the necessary prior knowledge or materials at home and have fallen behind their peers in mathematics. Many of them are not enthusiastic about learning math because its overwhelming for them. It is hard for them to learn material on their grade level because they lack number sense and the basic skills.

My Project

I want my students to have hands-on, fun, and engaging math activities to help strengthen their math skills. The Math Equivalency Puzzles will be an excellent resource for my students to develop number sense. The Roll and Solve Math games will provide a fun and engaging way to practice basic math skills including addition and multiplication. The Visualize It activity cards will be a great resource for my students to apply the numeracy skills they are learning and can work independently or with a partner at their own pace. My students can benefit from the Math Strategies Practice Journal because it focuses on multi-step problems.

Math games provide the students an engaging way to learn math.

Many students dislike math because it is overwhelming for them. By allowing them to use games and hands-on activities to strengthen their skills, it make learning math fun. Please consider donating to my project!
