Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My sixth-grade students attend a Title I school in Southern California. Many of my students live in government-funded housing. They all qualify for the free federal lunch program. A few of my students also receive special education support services.
As sixth graders, they have a myriad of interests and abilities that are developing as they become closer to high school and pull away from elementary school.
All of them are inquisitive and come prepared to learn every day. They enjoy learning and get inspired by what we read and do in class.
My Project
The influence of the Ancient Greek culture still surrounds us to this day. It is in the government, architecture, and literature of all western countries and cultures. Moreover, it is in the popular culture of books, movies, and art of this generation.
I feel it is important for students to be attuned to sources that feed the pop culture around them.
I want my students to embrace the past and appreciate its effect on their own lives. Together we go through the origins of the gods and the stories of heroes with the requested D'Aularies Book of Greek Myths. Studying the mythology of Greece is a way to begin understanding how the past is present.
