Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is filled with energetic, Title I learners. As a math teacher, I would like to turn my students into lifelong learners through STEM. My students learn through discovery and self-exploration.

Our students are eager learners who enjoy challenging lessons in STEM and the arts.

We proudly provide our scholars with a strong academic program that includes project-based learning, use of technology in the classroom, digital learning, various reading incentive programs, and learning platforms tailored to each student's academic needs and aspirations.

My Project

Fifth graders will create a budget for dye/run packets (sweatbands, bags, invitations and race numbers), determine supplies needed for attendance and calculate measurement of run course. Each student will create a spreadsheet using Google docs to document all expenses. Students will complete race set-up. My fifth graders will have a real world application of their financial literacy and computer literacy skills.

My student will finalize their unit on financial literacy by hosting a Color Run for their fellow schoolmates.

Students will develop a logo for the event. Using a cricut press, scholars will have logo placed on tshirt to wear during event. Cardstick will be used to create run numbers. The run will be given as a reward to students who have been excellent members of our school's community. Scholars who receive an invitation to color run will be chosen by our Fifth Grade student panel.
