Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Using candy as a teaching tool for financial literacy can make learning fun and engaging. Start by giving kids a set amount of candy, simulating an income. Encourage them to budget their treats, deciding how much to save, spend, or trade. Introduce concepts like “taxes” by taking a small portion for yourself, showing them the importance of setting aside a portion for savings. Create a “store” where they can “buy” candy with play money, teaching them about prices and value.

By gamifying the experience, kids can grasp key financial concepts while enjoying their favorite sweets.

I think the kids will also enjoy that some of the candy money looks like money which can make the whole thing more fun.
