My Students

My students are third graders at an elementary school. My 22 third graders come to school every day eager to learn and ready for a challenge. I love creating a classroom environment in which all students' needs are met. I engage students with a variety of learning strategies and alternative seating options to facilitate group work to help ensure that all students can reach their potential and learn 21st-century skills that will allow them to become meaningful contributors and leaders of our classroom and at our school.

My Project

A class set of Stone Fox books will allow all students to actively participate in a book study. Students will sharpen both their reading skills and their critical thinking.

We will read the novel together as a class and participate in literature circles to apply reading strategies that will increase student understanding.

When students have their very own copy of the book it makes the reading experience much more engaging.

Students will work cooperatively to learn how to cite evidence from the story to support their writing. We will use the the novel as our text to support critical thinking in writing narrative, informational, and opinion pieces.
