This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have the pleasure of working with a group of highly enthusiastic 4 and 5 year olds that love to learn. My students deserve the best high quality early childhood education so they can build a foundation to be successful in the years to come. My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, and most are English Language Learners. Our school is a Title 1 school with 100% free and reduced lunches.

The global pandemic has greatly impacted my student's social and emotional learning skills.

The majority of my students were isolated during the pandemic and are needing to develop social skills, including how to play and interact with others. In addition, they are needing to build strong phonological awareness and math skills. This project was designed to fill these educational gaps and will set them up for success by providing engaging hands on learning opportunities in literacy and math like the Alphabet Soup Sorters, Alphabet Acorns Activity set, Circle Time Learning Center Pocket Chart, math counters and the Balance Math Games. The Storybook Puppets and art supplies will provide many opportunities for the students to develop creativity, social, emotional and communication skills.
