My Students

I work with students who are diagnosed with speech impairments, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder and other health impairments this year. My students are from ages 5 to 7. All of them are English language learners who might not have attended a full-time school before. Most of them live in homes with non-English speaking parents or caregivers.

They are eager to learn.

They show their passion in learning. They demonstrate positive interaction among each other. They seek for help and support when it is challenging for them. They are curious about surrounding environments. They love to explore at their own pace. Your donation truly makes a difference. Thank you for your support.

My Project

My students are readers. They love to read but we have a problem. When my students walk to our class library, they see amounts of leveled books with the labels of A, B, C, D and E etc. I don’t see the excitement in their eyes. Reading can be fun. Reading should be fun and filled with excitement.

Books with large prints, attractive topics, amazing illustrations that always caught my readers’ attention.

Readers should fall in love with reading. My students love reading, especially during this difficult time. They see others through the books. They learn from the books. They communicate with the characters through the books. They even see themselves in the books. A variety of books will awaken their interests and their passion. Once they fall in love with the books, they would explore more within the books.

I want to see the light in their eyes. I want to see their passion with books. It motivates my students to make connections with the books. It teaches my students to look at the prints, the illustrations and words. They explore the sight words. They learn to tap and sound out unfamiliar words. They learn to use all their reading strategies to enhance their reading comprehensions. I request some popular book series, decodable books and popular read alouds to bring joy to the class. Let their smiles bloom and make their laughter loud while reading.
