My Students

The students here at our school come from a rural community that stretches approximately 20 miles north and south of the school. Coming to school is a joy for them, and to be able to see and hang out with their friends is important to their social development. They are a bright, ambitious, creative and curious little group of boys and girls, mostly boys, (so the girls are a bit outnumbered, but they definitely hold their own). One of the unique activities here at our school is the kayaking and canoeing once a month. This gives the kids the opportunity to be physically active, hearty and have a special love and knowledge of nature.

My Project

Our students have been requesting the following books for awhile and I have decided to put in a request for the funds through DonorsChoose.org to purchase them.

I believe that having access to books that are interesting and fun to the students encourage reading.

Also, it makes them feel a part of their school library when they help to pick out the books for our collections.

I tried to be selective in the age appropriate books for our library since we serve TK to 8th grade students. I am excited to get new books and it is always a joy to see the looks on the students faces when new books arrive. The students absolutely love checking out books!
