My Students

Meet the wonderful scholars in this first grade class! With twenty-five boys in a class (the school we attend is an all-boys school), each student brings so much excitement to the learning environment of our classroom. We encourage our students to learn through discovery, hands-on application of knowledge, discussions, and movement activities. Our students enjoy activities where they can go home and teach their families what they learned in school. A classroom full of boys can be a handful (I say this with lots of love), but the boys bring a high level of engagement and creative perspectives to each and every lesson. Within this group of students, there are a handful of boys with special needs, which contributes to the wonderful diversity within the classroom.

My Project

With your donation and the purchase of these materials, we will make the classroom visually appealing and push students to meet and exceed the learning standards of a first grader. Flashcards will be used in centers as a means for students to practice math facts and sight words. Educational games will be used to engage students in conversations where the students will challenge each others' thinking and practice necessary social skills. Other classroom materials such as a calendar, will help to create the positive learning environment all teachers strive to build.

Practicing these skills daily will shape life-long learners in my students.
