Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This school year 2020-2021, I will be teaching PreK3 and PreK4 students (3 and 4-year-old students) whose families have chosen to have their children learn fully remotely.

This is my first time serving as the primary teacher for these age groups, and it is my first time following the PreK3 and PreK4 curriculums.

Our school is located in Washington Heights in Manhattan, New York City, which is also my neighborhood. I am excited to meet my students and their families. I hope we run into them on the street in the neighborhood too!

I am usually a music teacher at my school, but due to this unprecedented school year, I am taking this new role. As I learn and experience this new journey, I will do my best to provide my students with the right tools and resources.

My Project

In two days, on September 16, 2020, I will start a new journey with two new groups of children. This year, I will be teaching 3- and 4-year-old students from our PreK3 and PreK4 classes. My two groups will include fully remote students from seven different classes across two different grade levels.

Each group will have a daily morning meeting, and for the rest of the school hours at home, I would like to provide my students and families with fun and meaningful off-screen and hands-on activities.

I know Teachers Pay Teachers (TpT) have excellent ready-to-use resources. Instead of creating materials from scratch or taking resources that require a lot of effort to modify, I would like to use well-made and ready-to-use activities from TpT. For this project, I am also requesting essential tools for me to connect with my students such as a computer headset and a mini document camera.

Teaching these age levels, learning about two new curriculums, and remote live teaching will be all new to me. I will enjoy meeting and getting to know my students and their families as always, but I know that at times, it will become challenging. Please consider helping me and my students. Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
