My Students

I teach middle school band to over 400 6th, 7th, and 8th graders! My students come from so many walks of life, and they are brought together by the communal effort of learning to play an instrument and perform as a group. For many, Band is a safe haven and a place they know they will be successful. It is also a place where many thrive even when they struggle in other ways in the building.

My band program provides opportunities for my students to learn and grow through music.

The skills they learn in band will serve them beyond their musical endeavors. Cooperation, teamwork, and getting their brains working in a way no other class can helps provide them with a well-rounded educational experience.

My Project

This project is to purchase two pieces of music for the concert bands. We are in need of some current music that we can give our students to play, and both of these pieces fit the bill! They are playable and achievable by our middle school students and will also be great teaching tools. Purchasing music can be expensive, and your donations will go towards these two pieces that will become part of our band music library that we will be able to use multiple times. This music will be both fun and challenging for our students as well as a ton of fun to work on!
