My Project

Hello! This is my first year teaching 5th grade. This class is extra special to me because I was also their 4th grade reading teacher! I have seen them grow in so many ways and have witnessed their determination in improving their reading skills. The specific items were hand picked by myself and my students because I believe in building the classroom together! We worked and discussed what items would help them achieve their goals for 5th grade!

The comprehension, fluency and main idea centers included in the project will help my scholars practice their skills in order to gain more knowledge and become proficient readers.

My goal for this project is to create a very calming atmosphere for the scholars so that the students can build an even more positive relationship with reading! I work in a low income area in Philadelphia so these scholars struggle academically and emotionally. My goal is to use the materials in small groups so that they can further advance their thinking and push themselves to do their very best in reading and writing! These materials will allow the scholars to interact with reading in a positive way and will allow them to practice skills that they will encounter throughout their academic careers.

My kids are unique in that they learn in many different ways and they are all on different reading levels. These materials will ensure that they are gaining the correct knowledge and skills in order to succeed. These kids are so special and want to learn so much, and I believe that these materials will help them tremendously!
