Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach kindergarten in a Title I school where the majority of the students receive free lunch, come from low income households, and their primary language is not English. This makes reading, writing, math, science and social studies difficult for them.

Despite all of these obstacles, my students come to the classroom full of enthusiasm, questions, joy and an eagerness to learn, especially at a distance.

My Project

Literacy center manipulatives provide Kindergarten students with opportunities to engage in rich language development during reading block.

My students love hands-on activities.

As I pull students to work in small groups based on their reading level, these manipulatives will provide my kindergartners with engaging and meaningful experiences enhancing oral language and letter-sound recognition.

The materials are alphabet photo stickers, alphabet photo floor puzzle, word building puzzles (3 and 4 letters), matching letter game, and alphabet alligators for matching lower and capital letters. This project will provide Kindergarten students with all of the necessary essential skills to ensure their success in oral language and letter-sound recognition.
