Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Being able to be around kindergarten students its exciting because you are with students that are young in age but have a big heart. Each student has different abilities and goals to achieve in the classroom. I have some students that are learning how to read, write and count in both English and Spanish. Others are learning their letters and sounds in order to meet their goals.

In the classroom we communicate with a positive attitude to share our ideas and build a safe environment.

We are part of a Title 1 school where most of our scholars get free or reduce lunch. My class is a bilingual setting where student get to know 2 different languages in order to be successful in their lifes.

All of my scholars love learning even though each one has a different learning style. There are different strategies incorporated in our learning such as group work, alternative seating and learning options to make sure each of my students meet their goals and needs. I am so happy and bless to teach such an incredible group of hard working students.

My Project

These hands on activities will continue to enhance the center rotation stations that I strive to create. My classroom stations are a place that my students really enjoy-I doing around my classroom independently! Every student has their favorite station that they enjoy doing. All of these activities have been chosen with my students in mind-I have watched them the past few weeks of activities and centers just like this ones, and I have also asked them what type of centers they enjoy. Students will be able to choose different activities to do during center time, which will help them continue to enjoy independent and group work .

With these new activities, my students will be able to choose from a variety of hands on activities that will allow them to enhance their learning independently at their own grade level.

They will also be able to choose an activity that interest them. The best way to increase their phonics ability is to work using their hands, and these activities will continue to help my students grow stronger in their phonics which will help in their reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in the centers, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the phonics.
