My Students

My 4th and 5th-grade students come from a low-income area and go to a Title I elementary school. They are in a self-contained special education classroom. My students are made up of African American and Latino ethnicities. My students have Mild Cognitive impairments and are very eager to learn. They are hands-on visual learners and like to learn through games and experiments.

My Project

Students will use these to play games and use hands-on materials to learn in ways that are better for them. Special Education classes need more hands-on fun ways to learn so students can be more engaged in a lesson.

My students will use these materials to be more engaged in their lessons rather than being at their desks filling out worksheets.

Translucent letters will let them spell their sight words on our table-top light board. All the games will help them learn while playing and not even know they are learning. Our teeth demonstration will help them see the ways that they need to brush. The storytelling kit will help them visualize the stories. The calendar board will give them something to actually touch when we are discussing our calendar.
