This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a fourth grade reading and writing teacher it is important for me to provide the necessary materials and instruction for my students to be successful in the classroom. My fourth graders come from very different families and backgrounds in one of the largest school districts in the state of Texas. It is common for the young boys and girls in my class to be the first people in their families to graduate high school and attend college.

We are a Title 1 school in a district that is economically disadvantaged with a very diverse group of students who enjoy coming to school every day.

Fourth Grade is a crucial year for students to showcase their skills in both reading and writing. Please consider helping me help my students reach their full potential this year.

My Project

I am requesting specific reading and writing materials as well as fun seating for the technology station to be used individually by my students so that they can take ownership of their learning. As a new teacher to fourth grade this year, I do not have the resources that I would like to be able to best provide the proper education to my students. Nonfiction texts, such as the Time For Kids subscription as well as the nonfiction reading comprehension kits I have asked for will help me be able to expose real-life, motivating texts to students and for them to develop their background knowledge about different topics.

These materials will benefit my students in their growth and development of reading and writing skills.

Students are expected to further their abilities in both of these core areas of Language Arts in fourth grade and I am certain that with these materials they will be able to showcase their knowledge
