My Project

Our school focuses on social-emotional learning along with providing personal and academic support for students during advisory class every day. My advisory family is fantastic, but during down time I noticed that their first instinct was to pick up their electronic devices and individually zone out. I'd like to encourage more bonding and interaction time so students can have more group fun in their day.

Playing games and providing students more opportunities to have fun helps them develop better social skills, gain a healthy competitive spirit, and improve mental health.

High school can be stressful for our students as they are taking a variety of high school courses, so focusing on their mental health is important. I'd like to purchase a variety of board games activities that they can play in small or large groups and get to know each other better. Who wouldn't want to start a day with Bingo, Jenga, or Pictionary? Filling our game closet will allow them to have different game choices everyday that that we can also play with our neighboring advisory classes too.
