My Students

Our classroom is full of 27 busy first grade students. We live in a suburban area and come from very diverse backgrounds. We have several nationalities and a high number of students who qualify for free and reduced lunch within our classroom.

Many students in our classroom are working towards increasing their social and emotional skills with peers in first grade.

They love practicing their social and emotional skills while working in small groups on a variety of tasks throughout the day.

My Project

Children have many opportunities throughout the week to earn tickets for positive behavior in the classroom, hallway, cafeteria, playground, and special area classes. These tickets are cashed in on Friday to participate in a free play time called Fun Friday. The materials purchased through your donations will be used during our Fun Friday activities each week along with other materials that have been collected through donations.

Fun Friday is a dedicated time each week for free play that is earned by the children in my classroom.

When the children cash in the tickets they have earned, they get the opportunity to select a free play station of their choice. These stations include board games, legos, play dough, and many more. This free play helps to foster learning opportunities for students both socially and emotionally.
