Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am an ESE (Special Education)/Reading teacher at a middle school in Miami. I teach and support students who have Emotional/Behavior Disorders and learning difficulties. My school is a Title I school, which means that about 99% of the students at my school receive free or reduced-price lunch due to their low socioeconomic status. The school is in a high poverty neighborhood so many of my students come from families that struggle financially. As a result, my students endure more problems than average children, and these problems interfere with and hinder their learning.

My Project

The snacks will be used for incentives during our weekly Fun Friday incentive. Every Friday we reward our students for their positive behaviors. Snacks such as chips, candy, hot sausages, capri Suns are snacks that children enjoy and will be used as incentives to for our Fun Friday Event.

With this array of snacks for incentives, it will encourage them to come to school more and behave well to be able to learn during class sessions.

With the snacks, I will be able to allow the students to select snacks that they can eat during the events. Many of the students are delighted to have snacks that they enjoy during these functions as sometimes other than school lunch that is the only food that they will have to carry them through the weekend. With this incentive, it will encourage them to come to school more and behave well to be able to take part in the Fun Friday activities. They will also have snacks that they can take home with them that they can share with siblings. Snacks are things that I can not ever have enough of. My students are always on their best behavior because they know they will be rewarded with the best snacks.
