My Project

We have Fun Food Friday's where we try the things we grow in the garden. In the past we have made pesto, pickles, jam, egg salad sandwiches and much more. We need these food storage containers and labels so the students can make and take home food to share with their families. The 8 oz bottles will be used to take home chili pepper water that we will make with the Hawaiian chili peppers we are growing in the garden. We will also make more strawberry and blueberry jam with all the fruit we have in the freezer.

Harvesting and cooking the bounty from the garden teaches my students how to live off the land.

We also share food that students have made with wild game they catch at home. We have also caught wild pigs at school in a trap the students made and they cleaned it, took it home and made homemade sausage. My kids will never starve as long as I am around to teach them how to prepare the food we can grow in the garden. We also will learn how to preserve food to last a long time. We love to work in the garden, but we love to eat more!
