Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

COVID-19, unlike any virus, has truly caused unprecedented disruption not only to my class, but to our entire school, our district, and as you may have seen on television or read about it online - to our entire nation. We went from a rainy day schedule to sheltering ourselves at home with "Safer at Home" orders. Our school, like many, was not prepared to beyond the two weeks of school closure. Seven weeks later, my students had to shift to distance learning for the remainder of the school year. After running out of the two-week packets I prepared for my students to complete at home and the distribution of technology by our school, my students who have internet access are learning remotely from home. Currently, all assignments are posted and or launched on online platforms such as Nearpod, Flocabulary, Zearn, and Seesaw. However, I still have students struggling with internet access, so these students follow an "At-Home" self-paced weekly schedule.

My Project

My amazing and dedicated students are trying their best to learn from home. I know it's not easy for families to always access the online platform, so if I can get these foundational skills journals and art materials to my students, it will help establish some type of normalcy and routine.

The Sight-Word Daily Activity and Phonics Interactive Journals will help my students practice and maintain the use of foundational skills we focused on prior to school closure.

The art supplies, watercolors, crayons, and watercolor paper journals will help my students unwind a bit from the core content and let their imagination flow free during COVID-19.
