Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the gym. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things exciting in physical education.
My students are eager to learn new physical activities and sports.
They are very energetic and eager to participate in all types of sports and activities.
They like to move, they enjoy learning and they love lots of positive attention. Many of them are being raised in single-parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical." From the minute they walk in the gym, I focus on their potential and growth. I may not be able to control their home lives; however, I can certainly control their experience during their time in physical education.
My Project
The multicolored balls can be used for many games and also different sports. Our kids love playing soccer, basketball, football and so many other fun sports. I can't wait to see how excited they get when they arrive.
I'm also excited to get a printer so I can print all kinds of signs for our gym.
I will be able to put up all kinds of colored sports posters, health posters and awesome quotes. Our goal in PE this year is Sportsmanship that is out of this world. I will be able to place all kinds of colorful signs that promote sportsmanship.
