My Students

It remains true that I am most fortunate to work with an exceptionally motivated and skilled group of Visual Arts students. The months of March - June 2020 were difficult for all of us. When school went from in-person to Remote Learning, some of my students' families were ill, some lost family members to the virus, some families lost income and financial stability; some students struggled with the workload, some grew anxious, or depressed having been separated from their friends and social lives. It was very hard.

My students are a dedicated bunch.

They deserve the very best that I can offer.

My students' lives are greatly impacted by the pandemic, as well as the movement for racial justice and social change. Despite the challenges, I have witnessed my students pull through. My students submitted beautiful artworks online, they participated in live video chats, shared their experiences and artwork with each other, and engaged in work remotely, and now they plan to enter a new school year with similar challenges.

My Project

In this most unusual school year, all students are required to have their own set of supplies. While I am grateful that all of my students have most of what they need, this tube of matte medium will be used to help me teach some sophisticated and creative painting techniques. Many students can purchase this on their own, but I want to be sure that everyone has access to ALL of the supplies we will be using this year!

Matte medium is essentially a clear acrylic medium that can be combined with small amounts of acrylic paint to create thin, transparent layers of color.

My students will be exploring both underpainting techniques (using the burnt umber paint that they all have), and glazing techniques. Matte medium is the perfect acrylic medium to create the layers of glazing! Please help supply my students with the matte medium they need to explore the glazing technique.
