My Project

I have dipped my toes into the Little Spot of Emotions program by watching some read alouds online and doing some small reflective lessons. From these, I did have some success.

I teach special education, so learning to identify feelings and emotions is just as important as learning to regulate them.

Something I love about this program, is how it has a works on a multitude of emotions. I feel this is especially beneficial to my third and fourth grade students as their emotional needs and feelings begin to get more complex.

The educators guides would be incredibly beneficial to me because so far I have had to pay for generic lessons on teacher websites. Due to copyright reasons, the images usually reflect the stories but are not actual representations of the illustrations in the books. The educators guides would save me from spending my own money, and they would provide better references for my students that would be easier for them to understand.

The plush items would help in multiple ways. Tangible items are always a plus with elementary students, especially in special education. They look fun, and they’re cute! That is sure to get them engaged. More importantly, they help them visualize how certain emotions make them feel and can help them work through difficult ones.

I love teaching social emotional lessons and feel these would have a great positive impact for my students. I would appreciate anything that would help me strengthen my learning/teaching opportunities!
