My Students

Ps. 938 is a brand new school located in Central Brooklyn. We are embarking on our founding the first-grade year. We are a Title 1 school and the students we provide for are from families that are predominantly Spanish speaking. Our students are going to need resources to excel. Specifically resources that they can see themselves in and feel connected to.

My Project

As a S.T.E.M identified program we have many hurdles to climb. Not only are we under-performing in this area we are also coming back into a school setting for the first time in 18 months. As you can see by our classroom picture we don't have books nor many manipulatives to help them to be the best mathematicians they can be.

We are fortunate enough to be in a brand new building but public schools don't have benefactors like the competing charter networks.

Our students are just as capable and maybe even more capable of outperforming the neighboring schools and districts but we lack resources. With the right resources, we would be able to conquer the world. These materials will help set the foundation that is needed for the students to not only be in a comfortable room but will allow them to try fail and try again.

I know that learning isn't easy if your not comfortable. SO it is my plan to give students options via flexible seating so they can focus on the things that matter.
