Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at our school are so AMAZING and special because the majority of them come from many different cultures where they are learning English as a second language! The socioeconomic status in our neighborhoods are low-income and our students are in desperate need of academic resources.

Our students love to explore and be creative in their learning.

They are filled with an excitement and joy to learn! Being a first grader is challenging because the students are making the most growth in first grade! I want to create an exciting and engaging learning environment to help combat these challenges!

My Project

This project is so special to me. Our school is one of the five schools in our district becoming a STEAM Magnet school! STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math! Our school will have a large Project Based Learning experience for the students with an Entrepreneurship focus. Our lesson plans for the students will be directly reflecting a project based learning experience.

We are requesting an Osmo for our classroom iPad, Osmo games, 3D Pen, Magnetic blocks, LEGOS, Engineering kits, augmented reality globe, and a Code and Go robot mouse.

Students needs to have a hands-on learning experience. There is strong curriculum in what these students call "toys." The students are learning AND they are having FUN discovering new things to think, investigate, and create. In my first grade math and science class, we are focusing on the engineering process (ask, imagine, plan, create, and improve). I want my students to have the tools necessary to be able to ask go through this engineering process daily in math and science.
