My Students

My students are, in one word: amazing. They aspire to be future lawyers, doctors, astronauts, teachers, professional athletes, and so much more.

However, my students are also facing many challenges.

Our school is located in an urban impoverished community. Our school is Title I; meaning the majority of students qualify for free/reduced lunch.

Regardless of the hardships my students face, they are relentless and show up to work hard. It is my job to ensure they receive an excellent education; one that will aid them in pursuing their biggest dreams.

My Project

75% of our K-4 student population stays after school for an extended day program. We hold science, technology, engineering, art, and math themed clubs. Our school has a limit after school budget and needs supplies to make the extended program a fulfilling, hands on experience.

STEM themed clubs help prepare students to be college and career ready.

Extended day provides opportunities for students to work together and explore experiences outside of the regular curriculum.

Materials such as Lego and K'NEX promote higher level thinking and problem solving skills. Students will work collaboratively to build structures. Board games facilitate discussion skills and social skills.
