This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are curious and excited about life. They love to create, think, question and build. I have found that many of the children I work with lack the confidence to persist through a challenging task. Through discovery, building, questioning and peer or teacher feedback they are able to plan, create, test and revise. This helps to increase their levels of confidence and practice socialization skills. The best part is the fun they have while doing these activities. Thank you!

My Project

I always teach my students to use any resource they have available to them. Currently my students are using mismatched donated lego sets to build items that incorporate simple machines. I see their frustration when the pieces from two different sets are not fitting together properly. They do a great job overcoming these difficulties but I think it would be an amazing addition to our class to have some new sets available to use.

Your generous donation to this project will help encourage my Kindergarten and First grade engineering class to create and build new things.

They will use them to learn about the engineering design process, simple machines, collaboration and persistence.

We can't wait to have fun using these new materials!
