This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hello and Hola! Our is a Dual Language Immersion School that enriches the lives of two hundred and twenty-five students in both English and Spanish. Our Title One school serves grades K-5. My students are hardworking, fun and creative! They love to learn but we have a wide range when it come to academic levels. Most of my students are from a home that is considered at the poverty level.

My school is one of the highest poverty level schools in my district.

Empowering all students to thrive and achieve within a child-centered, dual immersion community is our school's vision. Our mission is to create a safe, positive environment that nurtures the growth and development of the whole child, empowering them to reach their full potential.

My Project

My students and I want to create a STEAM space where we can be 21st Century learners. STEAM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. This is a great opportunity for a space where we can create, collaborate and innovate. Many students learn best through exploration and hands-on activities. These supplies will allow us to explore in different way, accommodating a variety of learners. We want to stock our space with new things like Legos, story puppets, and wooden blocks. These items will allow us to continue to build our STEAM space to accommodate a variety of learner and interests.

We also want to create a more collaborative space.

We will use the wobble chairs to create a flexible learning space with choice seating. Makerspace activities are perfect for experimenting and exploring while learning.

We are very excited about continuing to grow our first STEAM space!
