We are an awesome group of very curious, energetic Montessori students in an urban public school system that is economically challenged. Students need hands-on experience to better understand new ideas and concepts. Students enjoy exploring their academic world through materials that allow them to make connections and manipulate new concepts. They work hard and understand that they are responsible for their own learning. These students come from all different backgrounds and abilities which makes for a very rich learning environment.
My Project
Geometry surrounds us and draws many reluctant mathematicians into the subject. Studying the characteristics and attributes of a circle is more meaningful when we get to explore its many possibilities in art, architecture, and cultural representations.
Being able to draw Mandalas and unique designs will help students see the traits of a circle in a more exciting way.
They will be able to construct a wide variety of designs while learning the parts of a circle. The compass will allow them to inscribe circles, construct circles of specific diameters, understand the concept of Pi, and create designs based on repeating patterns.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
