This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of my students come to school hungry, and this affects their ability to focus and learn. Hunger should never stand in the way of education, which is why I am creating a simple and effective way to provide them with a warm, nutritious meal—freshly made hot dogs! This project will help ensure my students are not distracted by hunger and are ready to engage in class.

How Will the Specific Items Make a Difference in Their Learning?

Providing my students with a warm, filling meal will help ensure they aren't distracted by hunger, allowing them to focus on their studies and engage more fully in the classroom. A simple, nourishing meal will fuel their minds and bodies, giving them the energy they need to learn, participate in lessons, and build social connections with their peers. The items requested will create a comfortable and positive environment for them to focus on what matters most—education.

Goals for This Project:

To provide students with a reliable source of nourishment, reducing the impact of hunger on their academic performance.

To create a warm, welcoming atmosphere where students feel cared for, valued, and supported.

To teach students the importance of self-care and nutrition in maintaining physical and mental health, which is key to their overall success.

What Makes My Students Special?

My students are incredibly resilient, hardworking, and eager to learn, despite the challenges they may face outside of school. Many come from underserved communities where access to basic resources can be limited. Yet, every day, they show up with enthusiasm and a strong desire to succeed. Their determination to overcome obstacles makes them truly special, and providing them with something as simple as a warm meal can help them feel supported and empowered to achieve their full potential.
