My Students

My students come from diverse backgrounds. A large portion of my school's population comes from poverty-stricken homes; poverty is their dark cloud. Their struggles are real. They are kids with hopes and dreams of making their lives better and bettering the future of their families.

Unfortunately, due to the lack of funding, our district continues to struggle to provide the bare necessities to our special needs children.

Our school is a place where the students are safe, loved, and most importantly educated. With the pandemic crisis, we are facing, being in the classroom is consent for our students but the materials for them are scarce.

I became a teacher, in part, to set a good example for children who need role models in their lives. My hope is that I'll have a lasting impact on them.

My Project

There is a significant amount of time between breakfast and lunch during our school day. I've noticed that some of my students get hungry midway through, and some of them even skip breakfast. Since hunger affects their ability to learn, I'm requesting healthy snacks that can be provided to them on a daily basis.

A healthy snack at the right time can make a huge difference in a young student.

With healthy snacks to eat, my students will be able to enjoy an important energy boost that will allow them to have successful learning experiences in between breakfast and lunchtimes. These healthy snacks would also be provided to students who did not have a chance to eat breakfast. Imagine trying to learn something new while your belly rumbles from hunger... it is nearly impossible! Some of my students haven't brought snacks in to alleviate their hunger in the middle of our long mornings. Your donation would provide a critical need to my students and subsequently put them in the best position to succeed in school.
