My Project

I am a special education teacher for high school students with Autism and other moderate to severe disabilities. Since most of our students do not earn a high school diploma, our school focuses on volunteerism and work-based learning. One of the places our classes volunteer is in the local food pantry, providing food to students and other community members that may need it! We are grateful to the food pantry for allowing our students to volunteer there, packaging items and helping the community.

Help us create birthday-cake and s'mores kits for our patrons to bring home to their families!

Our class of 12 students will create "birthday cake kits" out of the requested items (cake mix, icing, cake pan, sprinkles, and candles) to allow our patrons to easily obtain materials to celebrate family birthdays - something they may not be able to do otherwise. We have also requested basic food items such as canned chicken, peanut butter, and vegetables, which our students will transport to the pantry, sort and distribute.
