This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low income/high poverty area, my students are faced with many challenges inside and outside of the classroom. Despite their many needs I am looking to keep things fun and simple for them in their learning environment. Many of my students are not exposed to books until they get into school. Some of their very first books are read from our school library or our individual classroom library. I am looking to provide them with positive fun experiences with books and also classroom stations.

My goal is to create a love of learning and a love of literature.

Most of our students come from single-parent households or households with many siblings. Many of our students, 89% receive free lunch or live at the poverty level. This can prevent many of them from getting ahead early and learning to their full potential. My goal is to help bridge the gap and give them those experiences.

My Project

From spongy, comfortable seating to science experiment kits, these materials will make a difference in my student's learning by allowing them to have an environment that is more than suitable for fun and active learning. Using these materials, kindergartners will have endless abilities when it comes to learning all things science and engineering. Children need a decent educational foundation in core subjects, such as language, math, history, and science, in order to guide them on the right path to a successful adulthood and careers.

By funding our project, students will have the amazing opportunity to explore future careers in science, providing a foundation of fun activities that they will remember for a lifetime.

With these wonderful materials, I can teach my students about the science of nature by raising butterflies in the classroom. Each day, they can walk in and watch their class pets grow and evolve into adult butterflies. This process of metamorphosis will teach my students the beauty of life and how things grow. These materials will give my students what they need to learn in a fun and interactive way.
