This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." I truly believe education is crucial to a better life. It is my hope that with your help, I can provide all of the necessary tools and resources my students need so that they can be successful this school year.

My students are some of the brightest third graders you will ever meet.

They have a true passion for reading, math and science. Their young minds are thirsting for knowledge and it is truly exciting to be a part of their learning process. Unfortunately, they come from low income homes where their parents struggle to help with homework and projects due to their limited English proficiency. Our school is a Title 1 school that tries to provide all that is needed to help our students but due to budget cuts, it becomes very difficult to do so. I usually find myself trying to come up with creative ways to pay for the materials needed for class projects. More than 90% of our school is on free or reduced priced lunch. These families struggle financially.

My Project

These resources will be used to create several STEM projects throughout the year. The composition notebooks, construction paper and pencils will help us write down and keep track of our experiments and observations. The science center will help create a fun learning environment and provide resources that my students will be able to reuse time and time again. The number line and Math Center will help my very low performing group that struggles with place value and number sense. The storage caddies will help keep their materials organized and at a close range. This will help to keep the flow of the teaching and learning, instead of stopping every few minutes to look for supplies. The ink and printer will be used to print out research reports along with math, science and social studies resources for my students. I will also use these supplies to print out my students' progress monitoring reports to show them their growth throughout the year.

You will be providing them with basic materials, technology in the classroom and storage baskets for their reading books within their reading range. Furthermore, you will be providing them with an opportunity to succeed. It is my hope that you will be a part of this journey that shows our youth that education is important and should be our number one priority. Thank you.
