This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 2nd grade students rock! I teach to two second grade classrooms at a Title I school, where over 95% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. In spite of the hardships and challenges my students may face, they arrive at my classroom every day with a smile on their face and ready to learn.

Our school serves students from a low income and high poverty area. My students deal with challenges in the classroom and at home. When a child walks into my classroom, I want them to feel special and forget any hardships they may be going through.

My Project

My students have a goal to complete between 60-75 minutes of online instruction time every week. It is very hard to achieve this goal with very few computers in the classroom. Currently we are down to 3 working desktops, so that is why we are in need of these Chromebooks. I would be able to make a group of 6 students to work on the computer. Furthermore, in order for my students to use these Chromebooks effectively they also need headphones and a surge protector power cord to charge them.

These Chromebooks will help my students achieve their weekly goal of online instruction time.

While a group of students is working on their online instruction, another group of students will be working on an independent center. In the independent center students are enriching their skills. In order to meet all the different needs in my classroom, I create different activities at their level and I need to print them out. The current printer we have is about 7 years old, and its not working correctly. A new printer and toner will allow me to have all these activities for my students readily available.

Having Chromebooks and a printer will allow my students to succeed in 2nd grade!
