My Project

I am incredibly proud of my students for their resilience, curiosity, and enthusiasm for learning. They come from diverse backgrounds, each bringing unique perspectives and experiences into the classroom. Despite facing challenges both inside and outside of school, they show up eager to learn and grow every day. Their capacity for empathy and their desire to support each other truly makes them special.

This project is designed to support my students’ social-emotional learning (SEL) by providing snacks for our designated SEL corner.

This quiet, calming space allows students to take a break, reflect, and practice self-regulation when they’re feeling overwhelmed. The snacks will play a crucial role in this process by addressing a basic need—hunger. When students are hungry, it can be hard for them to focus on their emotions or engage in calming strategies. Providing healthy snacks ensures that they can meet their physical needs, helping them stay present and engaged in the SEL activities.

The specific snacks I’m requesting—such as granola bars, fruit snacks, and crackers—are easy to distribute and store, making them ideal for the SEL corner. Having these snacks available will encourage students to use the corner more effectively and create a positive association between taking care of their bodies and managing their emotions.

My goal for this project is to create an environment where students feel safe and supported, both academically and emotionally. By meeting their physical needs and giving them a space to regulate their emotions, I aim to improve their focus, self-awareness, and overall well-being. This will not only support their academic success but also their development as compassionate and self-regulated individuals. My students deserve every opportunity to thrive, and these resources will help make that possible.
