Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My 9th-grade students are dedicated learners who face unique challenges daily. Many come to class hungry, relying on breakfast served in the classroom, which is often insufficient to keep them focused and energized throughout the day. Additionally, many of my students lack the financial resources to purchase basic school supplies like pencils, relying on us to provide these essential tools for their education.

Without these resources, my students struggle to stay focused, participate, and thrive in the classroom.

Snacks will help students stay nourished and maintain focus during lessons, allowing them to fully engage in their studies. Classroom supplies such as pencils will ensure every student has the tools they need to participate, removing barriers to success. Fidgets and plushies will provide my students—particularly those in inclusive classes with IEPs—a way to manage their emotions and maintain focus. In a year where emotional well-being is paramount, these tools will help create a calming and supportive learning environment.

My students are special because of their resilience and determination to succeed, even in the face of challenges. They show up every day ready to learn, despite the obstacles they face outside the classroom. By providing these resources, I hope to meet their basic needs, allowing them to focus on what matters most—their education.

My goal for this project is to create a classroom environment where every student feels supported, valued, and equipped to thrive academically and emotionally. With your help, we can make a meaningful difference in their daily lives and future success.
