My Students

Our school is a Title I school in Atlanta where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of our students are facing many socioeconomic challenges that hinder their academic success and the pandemic is just contributing to expanding the divide.

Each scholar brings a unique set of talent and energy that we help channel and mold to amazing futures

We have the awesome opportunity to meet them where they are and to bring them up and help them soar.

My Project

Mother Theresa wrote: "If you can't feed one hundred people, then feed just one." I would love to feed all my students always but will be happy to touch a few.

When the stomach is churning in hunger, the mind refuses to focus on learning.

It feels strange to offer a snack to two when I know that 30 need the energy boost. I will love to provide snacks for my students, not as a reward always, but simply because they need it to bring their A-game to the plate.

It is crucial to level the playing field and offer the same opportunities to all students. Having students not reaching their learning goals because they are hungry is unthinkable. Every student should have the opportunity to make gains.

The granola bars, breakfast biscuits, fruit snacks, and other food resources from this project will make it possible for my students to stay ready to learn and meet every learning goal and beyond.
