My Students

My students are some of the brightest and most gifted students in my school district. However due to their home environments and dangerous neighborhoods, the only thing on their minds is pure survival. Most of our students come from struggling homes where their parents are trying to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. Our school provides a safe haven to most of our students. They come to school eager to learn every day regardless of lack of school supplies. It is important that they feel they don't have to worry about basic school supplies and food to eat.

My class motto is "Failure is not an option!" One of my goals is to make sure the students have everything they need in order to be successful in class.

These students are under-served and just need someone to care about them and their success. I want to remove all barriers or obstacles that may hinder their success.

My Project

I keep talking to my scholars about equity and then I realize that not all of them have enough food to sustain a whole day of learning. I would like to do my part and help level up the playing field. The snacks will help give them the boost that they need between breakfast and lunch and at times between lunch and dinner.

When the stomach is churning in hunger, the mind refuses to focus on learning.

I will love to provide snacks for my students, not as a reward always, but simply because they need it to bring their A-game to the plate.

The granola bars, Rice Krispy Treats, fruit snacks, and other food resources from this project will make it possible for my students to stay ready to learn and meet every learning goal and beyond.
