Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The items I am requesting for the after-school program can significantly impact students' learning by enhancing their focus, energy, and overall engagement.

Boosting Concentration: After a long school day, students often feel tired or hungry, which can make it challenging to stay attentive.

Low energy levels and hunger can affect their concentration ability, especially in subjects like math. Providing a snack can give them the necessary energy boost to remain focused and actively participate in after-school activities. Providing students with a small snack can help boost their energy and motivation, making them more prepared to tackle challenging math concepts. This project focuses on supporting my AIS students who struggle with foundational math skills, such as multiplication, division, fractions, and basic algebra. The goal is to identify their learning gaps and address them through targeted instruction and practice.

My school is a Title III school, with a student population that is 95% Spanish-speaking. Hispanic families often place a strong emphasis on family and community, creating a supportive network that encourages student success. While resources may be limited, education is highly valued within their cultural heritage, driving students to persevere academically despite challenges. By providing the right support, we can help these students build confidence and improve their math skills.
