Last year, our amazing debaters made the leap from competing on the local circuit against other Chicago Public Schools teams to competing at the national level against the best teams across the country. They did so well that they were able to qualify for the prestigious invitation-only Tournament of Champions and even won first place at the National Association for Urban Debate Leagues national championship. Competing at this level is an incredible opportunity for our students to hone their skills, visit college campuses across the country, and receive the competitive recognition that they deserve.
Our debaters deal with challenges that their competitors, many of whom come from some of the most well-known private schools in the nation, do not including difficulty raising the money to get to tournaments and food insecurity.
Often debating three days in a row from early morning to late night, it's vital for our students to have breakfast and snack options to sustain them throughout the tournament. With your support, we will be able to provide them with a menu of options that will keep them fueled up and ready for competition.
