Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students I teach are a diverse and enthusiastic group of learners. Students who populate and learn in my classroom range from general education to special-education to English language learners and everything in between. Our school is set in an urban setting in New York and our population is as international as the city we reside in. Some students are encountering formal education for the first time which lends itself to a unique set of challenges and opportunities. Thank you.

My Project

We will start an intramural soccer program for 6, 7 & 8th graders. The teams will be 4-5 players and they will play on a modified field. Many of the students have a deep passion for soccer but lack the opportunity to participate on a team. This program will help give them that opportunity to not only develop their soccer skill but to develop teamwork, "group think" and strategy as well.

Students will engage in athletics and will understand and develop the ideas of teamwork and collaboration toward a goal.

Students will have an enrichment opportunity that will enhance their school experience and will provide them an additional reason to regularly attend and perform academically in school.

Additionally, students who may not want to participate on the field will have the opportunity to be involved through scorekeeping, officiating, keeping statistics, taking pictures and videos and updating the online pages!

The idea is to develop the idea of T.E.A.M. Together Everyone Achieves More!

Funding will go towards small portable soccer goals, soccer balls, and safety equipment.
