My Students

From the moment my students walk through the door in September, all they talk about is prom, graduation, yearbook, senior trip, internships, college, well, you get the picture. All of that exciting chatter has ceased. Our conversations, now remote, are quite different.

COVID-19 has robbed so many of my students of their most basic necessities.

The children who enter my classroom come from all over NYC. As such, they carry with them a wealth of knowledge that contributes to a dynamic classroom. However, many of my students also come from economically disadvantaged homes. Therefore, many times, resource and basic supplies are scarce. They need our help to keep their heads above water and food in their bellies.

My Project

Many of my students come from impoverished homes, where nutritious meals are scarce. They depend on the school to provide them with sustenance for the day. Now that our school buildings are closed, we have all turned to distance learning to meet the academic needs of our students. However, many children will go to bed with empty bellies.

I need your help to provide my students with some relief.

With the food items from this project, I will prepare meal packages for some of my neediest students. I will recruit the help of my peers and my family to make drop-offs at the students' homes.
