This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember overhead projectors? The fuzzy transparencies that had to be prepared in advance and were always put on upside down and backwards? Even if we did have room for one in our small portable classroom, it would be a dinosaur in this digital age. No more back row, with a digital projector.

My students are 2nd graders in a public Charter school in California.

My classroom is in a portable building, also called a bungalow. A permanent temporary solution to fitting over 750 students into an old school. They are bouncy and energetic sponges in a time where information could be available with little more than a thought (with the right materials). They are the future leaders and creative minds of this country and world. Give them the tools and point them in the right direction and we will be learning from them.

My Project

The Epson Digital projector is an unbelievable educational asset. We will be able to use it in all areas of study. This will allow me to provide instantaneous shared access to classroom materials, lesson plans, videos, maps, and an endless list of possibilities. I will be able to connect this to my computer and open their eyes to a world of exciting and educational information/presentations. This will be an asset in the classroom for this year and future students.

As teachers, we are always facing budget cuts, including cuts in our own job security.

We teach because we have a passion for these kids and for sharing with them the knowledge of the world. If I am fortunate enough to receive this educational tool, I will put it immediately to use with Writer's Workshop as well as mathematics, social studies, and other critical areas for academic success. We need to get the attention of the children, and this technology will project it larger than life
