Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Starting in the middle of the school year, I want to make sure my classroom is fully equipped with the basic supplies that foster an engaging and supportive learning environment. The items I'm requesting, such as pencils, cleaning supplies, and dry erase markers, may seem simple, but they are crucial for day-to-day success. These essentials ensure that my students have the tools they need to focus on their learning without worrying about whether they have the proper materials. With enough pencils, we avoid distractions like students sharing or borrowing in the middle of lessons. Dry erase markers allow me to provide interactive instruction on the board, while cleaning supplies keep our classroom safe and healthy, which is especially important to maintain a focuses learning space.

These supplies are not just about convenience—they directly impact my students' ability to stay engaged and motivated, especially during the time of transition with a new teacher mid school year.

My goal is to make sure the shift feels smooth, and that the students feel supported as they continue their educational journey. What makes my students so special is their ability to support one another, specifically within our bilingual setting. Many of my students speak Spanish as their first language, and I see the incredible way they help their peers who are still learning English. This environment of collaboration is something I want to nurture and grow, and having all the necessary supplies will ensure we maintain a positive and productive space for everyone.
